Flyfisher's CLub of Harrisburg

Dale, Michael, and Ray headed out Thursday for the annual meeting of the Flyfisher's Club of Harrisburg. On the way we stopped at Bedford to catch a few on Yellow Creek. We pulled up only to find a dozen cars in the parking lot. Thinking the stream would be packed, we slowly made our way downstream. There was a beautiful spot without a fisherman in sight. Everyone hooked a few fish with the largest being Ray's big Brown Trout. Note the huge belly (on the fish)

A monster storm was rolling across the state. Worried that the Yellow Breeches would become blown out overnight, the group headed East to try and get a few Thursday evening. The storm came and went in a few minutes. From the parking lot, we watched a huge double rainbow form - perhaps a sign to get back in the water.

The evening was slow but Dale got a few and Ray caught one on a dry BWO in the Run that feeds the breeches. Ended the night with a great meal at the Tavern at Boiling Springs.

Friday called for an attempt on the famous Letort Springs. Started with a nice lunch at Marinaro's Meadow. Hard to believe the history. Many innovators of the sport got their start at this very location.

Dale stalking his prey on the Letort.

On Saturday we headed west to fish Big Spring Creek. Michael worked for 45 minutes on this nice native brookie. Finally it fell prey to one of his midges.

Cyndi joined us on the Big Spring and made a nice catch herself. Dale was very proud that the last of the skunk was washed away from the trip.

If you are curious about the dinner - it had good food, great drinks, a large raffle and stimulating conversation. Definitely a return trip will be planned for next year.
